This ester has many hydrophilic groupings. It is miscible with ethanol, water, and methanol. However, it is not miscible or soluble in light petroleum, non-volatile liquid oils, and liquid paraffins. One part is soluble with 130 parts cottonseed oils and 200 parts toluene. The pH of the aqueous solution is between 5 and 7. It is soluble with corn oil, dioxane (carbon tetrachloride), fibrin, methanol and ethanol.
