Molybdenum diilicide
This is an inorganic compound, with the formula MoSi2, that is a gray metal solid. Molybdenum is disilicide, which is insoluble with most acids. However, it can be dissolved in nitric and hydrofluoric acids.
Molybdenum Disilicide exhibits good high-temperature resistance to oxidation, with an oxidation resisting temperature of up to 1600°C.
Molybdenum Disilicide is conductive. At high temperatures, it can form an oxidation-resistant layer of silicon dioxide. MoSi2 can be used to heat in an oxidizing environment at high temperatures (1700degC).
