Cobalt iiii chromate is the chemical compound with the formula CoCrO4. It is an ionic mineral with the overall charge of 3 cobalt ions. It is a brown to yellowish-brown powder and is soluble in mineral acids and solutions of chromium trioxide. It is also soluble in ethanol. Cobalt is a ferromagnetic metal used primarily in the production of magnetic and high-strength superalloys. It is also a radioisotope, most notably the commercially important radioisotope Co-60, which is useful as a tracer and as a gamma ray source.
